Hi, Hansel here. I thought it was time I really introduced myself.
Life as a racer has ended for me and last Saturday I started my journey to retirement. I've heard that includes a wonderful family to love me, cushy beds to lay on and lots of yummy stuff to eat. I can live with all of that. Just as I was getting all excited about going to a forever home, they said I had to make a stop over first to a foster home. It's sort of a practice home where I get to learn about retired life from a couple of pros.
Well after a hectic and sometimes unsure first day, I'm all settled in at my foster home. My foster mom, ( I just call her Foma) has two greyhounds of her own. There's a cute little girl named Dolly and a quiet fella named Tapper. I sure do like Dolly but she's still playing hard to get. No worries. She'll see it my way in time. How long can she resist this handsome face.
I'm not wasting any time learning the ropes. I know where my crate is and I know my Foma is going to bring me yummy food if I wait quietly in there. I've learned where to potty outside and I haven't had any accidents in the house. I don't mind walking of the shiny wood floors but I found out that I shouldn't run too fast on them though. They turn into ice! I can do the stairs all by myself but they're not my favorite. I've learned that walking on a leash works best when I stay close and walk with my house mates. We walk in the early morning when it's dark but I'm not spooked by the cars and buses. I'm even learning to go potty when Foma stops at one of the special places and tells us to go.
I'm happy to be learning so much about a home. I want one of very own though as soon as possible. Maybe you can help with that. Just fill out an application and tell the good folks at GEGR that you want to meet me. In the mean time I'll have Foma post lots of pictures of me. She doesn't mind because she says I'm so handsome.
I should get back to my training. Well maybe I'll check and see what Dolly's up to first. Maybe she'll let me sleep beside her. I just want her to notice me and I'm one determined fella. Stay tuned; there's a love story here. I just know it.
